Human Trafficking Training

Human Trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery, widespread throughout the United States today. Trafficking of humans is the second largest criminal industry in the world after drug dealing, and is the fastest growing. Many victims of trafficking are forced to work in prostitution or sex entertainment. But trafficking also occurs in forms of labor exploitation, such as domestic servitude, or restaurant work, sweatshop factory or migrant agricultural work.

The Trafficking in Persons Council established by the Connecticut General Assembly in 2004 established a need for better services, response and education in the state of Connecticut. The CT Women’s Consortium was one of the organizations selected to provide trainings. Currently, the CWC offers half-day trainings to help participants define human trafficking, identify victims and what steps to take to help these victims of human trafficking. The training examines labor and sex trafficking and uses case examples for better understanding.
