The mission of the CARE committee is to advocate for high quality, cutting-edge, recovery- oriented treatment for women and their families and to support efforts to improve services for all women. The integrity of the group lies in the strength and commitment of the women’s services providers.
History
The C.A.R.E committee began in 1993 through an initiative by The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to bring together providers of women’s substance abuse services. Originally named the Women’s Service Provider Network, the group was renamed Coalition for Addiction Recovery and Education (CARE) for Women and Children in 1995. Between 1995 and 1996 the group created a document, The Connecticut Model for Women’s Treatment. Currently, we have the Women’s Services Practice Improvement Collaborative (WSPIC), which is based on the same tenets that the Connecticut Model had identified.
